Bognor Vineyard was planted out from Portsmouth Vineyard in May 1999. The first 5 members were – Bob and Mary Barham (as Senior Pastors), Jan and Lisa van Driel, and Nigel Alner. It quickly grew to double figures and over the next 18 months had to keep moving venue to keep up with its growth. Eventually we found a more permanent home at Felpham Community College where each Sunday we use the main and small halls to keep up with all the activities and growing numbers. Each week we now see well over 130 adults and children as well as people being involved in midweek meetings we call 'Kinships'. Our Sunday meetings are family centred and children are welcome. The setting is 'café style' and relaxed yet our worship is genuine and sincere. We take time to talk with each other, enjoy our coffee and cakes and always expect that the teaching is biblical and relevant. The other pages on this site will explain more about what we believe and who we are. We are part of a world wide group of churches and we are linked to Vineyard Churches UK . The Senior Pastors, now Jan and Lisa van Driel, are supported by Mike Pearson, one of the Vineyard UK Trustees.
We have great relationships with other churches in Bognor Regis and regularly meet with the other Pastors and ministers in the town. If there is a simple statement that might summarise what Bognor Vineyard is about it would be: - “We want to be known as followers of Jesus and to love our community into a relationship with Him”
Bob and Mary are the Founding Senior Pastors of Bognor Vineyard in May 1999. Having now reached the great age of 60+ they felt it was right to hand over to younger leaders who have plenty of energy and ideas and who will take the church forward to all the exciting things God has planned for the future. They are still part of the leadership team and also trustees of the church. They are waiting to see what God has got planned for them in Spain, especially if it has to do with golf! |
